Canadian jazz vocalist Daphne Roubini’s ‘Whisky Scented Kisses’ captures a sound that is timelessly elegant and cinematically evocative

Whisky Scented Kisses captures a sound that is timelessly elegant and cinematically evocative. This collection of songs, from vocalist and songwriter Daphne Roubini, brings to mind a set of long-lost jazz standards from the catalogues of the 1940s and ’50s. Daphne Roubini’s sound is the essence of Black Gardenia — a voice rooted in the
phrasing of classic jazz yet touched with her own distinctive style, tender and powerful in equal measure. Enriched with lush horn arrangements, this is the sound of the past reborn in 2026, and unmistakably Black Gardenia — award winning musicians who have graced stages across Canada and beyond.
